walking nowhere

Walking on the Beach
Walking, I see the footprints of souls passed.
Some big, others small.
But no matter how big, or how important the step
The tide will take them away.
The sea doesn’t care for memories or imprints.
As I walk I think.
I don’t want to disappear like the rest.
I want to be eternal.
Leaving a mark for ever.
Silver glints at me from under the shallows.
I bend down and find a silver lighter,
Adam, forever yours Eva x
Even the lighter;
Gone.
Thrown away.
Left to rust.
Did the relationship fail and the cruel memory was tossed away, or is poor Adam still looking for the last remaining article of the forever lost Eva.
I know nothing about them, or their lives.
But I want to know everything.
Always.
